I don't know about the mounts, if that was the case you would feel the engine jumping at idle. How long does the squeel last? have you checked your belts? I would lift the hood and have a friend rev it up and see if you can zero in on the sound too.

if it is continous squeal...then check our belts ( just left of the engine when you look down)
other wise it's just your exhaust valves opening up...step on the gas just a bit and it'll chirp once and when the rpm drops down..just before it goes to idle..it'll make a slight chirping noise again

This makes absolutetly sense but I will post it anyway. Please don't flame me for this but this just happened to me today. After reading this post and listining to strange sound comming from your engine this morning I couldn't help but wonder what the hell could possibly make that sound. My first thought was maybe a clogged air filter or something in the air box. I was planning on changing my oil this morning so i took the car for a short drive to get the oil up to temp before draining. When I pulled the car back into the garage to change the oil i put the car in park and reved the engine only to about 3k or so and as the rpms were comming down i heard the same sound as your car is making. I figured I would check it out after I changed the oil. Well I drained the oil and replaced the oil and filter and took the car for a short drive. When i pulled the car back into the garage i reved the motor again to about 3k but this time it did not make the noise. As I said it makes no sense that changing the oil would have any effect on the type of noise i heard. The noise did not resemble a machenical noise it more resembeled an air restriction noise.
