Greddy Evoii Install Help

3 QUICK QUESTIONS:

1) What is the sensor that went into the stock muffler after the Cat and what do you do with it since there is no place for it on the EVOII?

2) Did anybody else have rear bumper clearance issues. My stock rubber hangers are pulling the exhaust tip up into the bottom of the bumper and melting it. Any ideas how to fix this?

3) Did I read somewhere on the org that the Greddy systems came with a sticker that indicated they were 50 state legal or was that another brand?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!

You have to have a performance shop or a muffler shop drill a hole in the pipe that connects to the cat converter and weld a little threaded nut or whatever they are called for the sensor to screw back in because you need it. I had the same issue when I had my 2000 maxima. And the tip of the muffler was real close to the bumper but it wasnt touching it unless I went over a bump, then it would bang on the bumper. The only thing I can think of for you to do is try to get longer rubber pieces that hold the hangars.

Thanks for the info- I can't believe they sell this as a bolt on. My system did not come with any instructions whatsoever. I did the install with a friend to save some $$$ and now I still have to go to a muffler shop. This is unreal.

does an exhaust really need directions?

i guess since your car has some extra sensor plug. my cali max doesnt have that. and sice greddy is in cali they prolly used a cali spec max to design it.

i do also have extremely close fitment to my rear bumper. but the buzzing i heard occassionally(bumper tapping tip) when i first installed it seems to have gone away.

Makes sense about the Cali Specs but the fittmnet instructions does say all 2K-2k1's. I guess directions might be a bit much but I'm sure they are aware that there are alot of Maximas outside of Cali that could use a heads up about the 02 sensor.

Akogan- do you by chance remember what getting that sensor installed ran you?

AKOGAN, you mentioned that your 2000 Max had the sensor issue... how about your 2002? I'm about to put in an Evo I and I was wondering if there is drilling involved in that too....

The 2000 fed spec cars are the only ones to have a O2 sensor after the cat.

The 02 sensor install cost $25, but it all depends where you do it because some places might charge more. I dont know of any 02 maximas having 02 sensors behind the cat. I'm on my second 02 maxima and I just ordered evo 2 exhaust. Neither of my 02 maximas had 02 sensors in that spot.

I had the same problem wih my 00 max. I put the 02 into a ziplock bag and then wrapped it in a lot of duct tape. It sounds ghetto but my friend told me to do it and that it is recommened on the Eclipse forums for his car. I did it and no problems, knock on wood.

Mine actually got really hot and melted the plastic bag. Around that time, the service engine soon light came on. Anyway all good now. Thanks for the responses everyone.
