Which panel filter for stock airbox is best?

OK,
We have the tried and true K&N, then there's Accel Kool blue, that green filter I've seen on one of the supporting vendor sites, then there's the new Fram Airhog filters, Holley Powershot, and probably a handfull of others.

Any opinions from you guys regarding performance vs filtration and or cleaning?

I'd like to try something different than K&N.

I personally prefer the NAPA Gold 6116. Just my two cents.

Save your money and use it for something else....neither will give you any considerable gain.

Ok...So you're saying rather than spend $50 and gaining almost nothing ( other than the ability to simply clean and reuse the filter rather than replace it ), spend three times that and gain 10hp along with some sound. I see your point.

I was planning some sort of GAB mod in addition to the high flow panel filter.

Some day I'm going to commit to one of these intake systems and just buy something. I was really close to going with an Injen knockoff on Ebay and replacing the filter with an S&B, but I can't seem to bring myself to do it.

For the money, the Place Racing / Cattman unit looks like the best one to me.

I don't want to try and turn this thread into another intake thread, so I'm dropping it.

Still shopping.

Save your stock stuff and dont tear it up with a silly GAB, get yourself the ebay injen knock-off. Cant beat the price for performance bang of that thing. Better to spend the fifty bux on the knockoff than on a panel filter and tearing up your stock intake which you might well need on the future.

If you are looking to get a CAI you are absolutely right in getting the Place Racing/Cattman. Stay away from Injen.

The GAB's work well. I like the PAB from SR20DEN the best. If I went that route I'd probably go with an Amsoil panel filter.

Here's the thread on the PAB.

SR20DEN recently dyno'd at 249 whp (NA) with this setup (among other mods )

The Amsoil foam filter provides the best price/performance of all the drop in filters.
