What's a good/safe way to remove the dealer's decal (i.e., "Southpoint Nissan", etc.)...?????

If it's a badge type (like the MAXIMA badge) you can try fishing line.

GooGone?

Hey Kev...where can I find this stuff?? Any alternatives? Should I use a putty knife to get under the decal? Thanks!

No, it's not a badge type...just like a window sticker type material. Thanks for the fishing line tip though!

You can purchase this stuff from Target, Walmart, K mart, etc. I don't know about the putty knife because it might scratch up your window.

Alternative... peel the sticker off and use something sticky (i.e. tape) to remove the residue.

Sticker removal

The best way to remove a sticker is to heat it up with a hair dryer, or sometimes the sun will work just fine. Then peel off the sticker with your fingernails very carefully.

The sticky stuff should mostly come off, but if it doesn't, dab at it with the sticker you just removed. The sticky on the sticker will grab the sticky off the paint.

You can use almost any polish to remove the remainder of the sticky if you have to.

the best thing to do is remove it manually and get the residue with acetone. you can buy it at any hardware or paint shop. it is almost loke the fingernail polish remover but will not affect the paint. i did that for those darn pinstripes and to take my emblems off in the back. better yet use a heat gun or blowdryer.

acetone

If you use acetone, better get ready to polish at least that part of the paint. Acetone eats polish like beetles eat sh&t.

My car had one when I picked it up (even though I told them I didn't want it because I didn't want to advertise for them for free). It wasn't really a "window sticker" type, rather one of those puffy type badges. Anyway, I called and asked them if it was something I could do and they said I'd more than likely rip the paint off with it (and given what we all know about the paint I didn't doubt that for a second).

When I went in, they hit it with a heat gun (the kind used for shrink-wrapping) and ever so gently peeled it away. Fortunately, there was no residue left behind. I was in and out of there in 5 minutes.

IF YOU ARE TOO SCARED TO USE ACETONE. USE THE HEAT GUN OR BLOWDRYER. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS LET SOME WAX SIT ON THAT SPOT FOR A FEW MIN. AND IT IS NO LONGER DULL. THAT IS ALL!

I used my fingers with the assistance of a fine pointed edge (to get it started). I slowly pulled it off. I cleaned the residue with rubbing alcohol.

This should work fine. This is the first mod to all of my cars.

Decal Removal

I'm lucky. My dealer's decal was kinda like black electrician's tape. I just had to pick at the corner of each letter, one at at time. Five minutes and no more decal. They also put on an ugly licence plate frame, which of course was gone two seconds after I pulled into my driveway.

Dealer stickers = SATAN

The best way to deal with dealer (satan) stickers is to let them know up front you will not buy the car with any of they're stickers or badges on it, period.

I can assure the slime that sell these cars will make sure it gets removed, or not put on at all if it stands between them making a sale.

I said jump, and they said how high? Dirtbag dealers.
