HID's

i have a 2001 20th anniversary max, white exterior, black interior. i was looking to get hid's but dont know which ones to get. i like the purplish tint of the 10000K's but also like the bright white look of the 5300K's. 8000K looks too blue so i wanted to stay away from them. The 6000K's have a nice blueish tint as well. so i was basically deciding whether to go with the 5300K, 6000K, or 10000K for my max. any suggestions.............

I would go with the 6000K. Good look, shines very bright and offers good visibility on the road, where if you go higher then 6k, you will get just pretty colors but no visibility. Remeber too, that alot of cars that have HIDS and shines all spectrums of the rainbow ,those cars have projector beams. They offer projector beams for your year Maxima. I would buy the projector beam headlights and throw some sylvania silver stars and call it the day. Had them in my 94 TTZ , and they did the same job as HID projector beams, less intense but i got all the cool colors when the car was coming at you seen from onlookers who told me this. And you will save a bunch of money too....

I thought I read awhile back that the sale of aftermarket HID's was illegal?

so i read as well, retrofit HIDs are not street legal, cuz they throw off wacky light pattern, blind the coming coming traffic and gives out too much glare.

I know this has been asked before, but will LEGAL 2002 lights fit on a 2001 Max? I don't want to bring the lock but I'm sure it's possible to find good, legal, 2002+ Maxima HID lights.

Many 00 and 01 users have bought 2k2,2k3 hid headlights. They fit and just the wiring is not plug and play. Hids kits are illegal but you can find one on ebay or many other websites. I think it all depends on your budget. Cheapest would be getting a kit, then getting hopefully non stolen maxima headlights with full assembly, and final and most expensive and time consuming retrofitting projectors inside your headlights.

I dont think you should put HID in your 2001 maxima, it is the first place they are going to target. Chances of 2k1 owner getting there "non stolen" HID lights are very high, considering they turn around and resell them to another 2k1.
So becarefull, i think you should just buy a projector set of lights and install PiAA bulbs, they are legal and you wont get in trouble.
