Larrio, Slammed,
I wasn't trying to say it's not a SWEET kit. Just saying $3K is quite an expense that isn't really needed by MOST normal drivers...if I was auto-xing the car, hell yeah I'd get them...
as to "how much it costs to make" I don't mean how much does top element have to pay from all the parts suppliers. I was just wondering aloud how much the actual parts actually cost to make in manpower and materials....
I'm sure it's a great quality kit that does exactly what it's supposed to....but I certainly don't feel like I need a $3k BBK to "complete" my car...any more than I truly would ever spend the $$ for a S/C....
If I wanted to spend all that $$ on high-performance stuff, I would have bought a sportscar that is MADE for high performance....I mod what I can afford to due, and don't feel I'm being "cheap-o".....I mean, I bought the car because I liked the way it was STOCK....
btw, at least I do have the 12" 2k4 rotors on mine not the puny 10.4" that warp.....not a real BBK, but it works fine stopping hard from 100mph (I drive the beltway all the time, I've done it)...and I'm not often going faster than that.
anyways, good luck with the kit...If someone gave me $10K and said "you can only use it for the maxima" then i'd probably get it.
so, who's giving me the $10K. Come on!

Honestly, I wouldn't touch it unless I was doing hardcore roadcourse stuff, or I had $10k burning a hole in my pocket. even for Auto X, it's completely unnecessary. it throws you into classes with heavier competition because of the brakes and the wheels required to fit over them.. for road course use, I have yet to see more than minimal (very miniscule) amounts of fade on my wilwood kit on a very heavily braking track in 110 degree weather.. IMO, the AP kit is 1000% overkill. but Badass nonetheless!
If you has something like i30Krab, Kevin, Sadler's car or some of the other VERY nice show cars- those might be worthy of the kit. Otherwise, I consider it akin to putting a diamond collar on a stray dog.
My only point was why make such pains to get such big front side braking power when even the 300z calipers on 13" rotors lock the fronts so easy. More braking really does nothing at this point. Now increase the rear rotors and recalibrate the bias, then you might have some HUGE braking improvements!
At that point, it's more about heat and fade resistance than it is total stopping power. the OE brakes are enough to lock up the brakes at 140 (been there, done that, bought new front tires the next day)... but you can't do it more than once, maybe twice.
a BBK will be able to brake at the threshold of traction all day long without overheating like the stockers.
and yeah, there's a rear kit coming. just keep watching. I'm waiting on the stoopid fab shop to machine a part for me.

I agree. Then we start comparing across the BBK out there. I bet there are differences inbetween them on paper. But not that mcuh (if any) differences even when the car is tracked.
Make no bones about it, this kit is extremely nice though.
