illuminas and body roll

How much do the standard unadjustable illuminas reduce body roll when not paired up with aftermarket springs? The biggest thing I hate is how my maxima handles and especially the ungodly amount of body roll...

Thanks,

Mark

If it's an Illumina, then it's adjustable. If it's a Tokico shock that's not-adjustable, that would be the Tokico "Blue".....

The shocks really don't affect body roll that much...the only thing that really affects that is the dampening rate. The springs are what really affect body roll. If you are trying to get rid of the mad body roll the maxes get, I suggest you get a rear sway bar (if you don't have one already)..

Got a rear sway bar and front strut brace already and I was not impressed with the addition of either.

you have a GXE/GLE or SE? The RSB really stiffened up my body roll. FSTB doesn't do much. Also Matt Blehm's (Matt93SE) lower tie bar REALLY flattened out the front end for the 10 minutes I had it on there, but that's another story entirely...

Struts are not going to impress you if the RSB didn't....sounds like you need stiffer springs or tires with stiffer sidewalls (what tires and what rims are you running?)

Illuminas and springs do make a big difference - especially when the Illuminas are set to higher stiffenesses.

Even when the illuminas are dialed back to soft settings, stiffer aftermarket lowering springs (Progress in my case) tame much of the body roll.

So if I am to get the GC coilovers with illuminas in them my body roll would be greatly reduced improving handling? I am about to just get the coilovers and say screw the stock springs. I like the comfort and am willing to give up some of it to improve the maximas horrible handling.

Can somebody just confirm I wont feel every little motion the car makes if I go this route?

Thanks,

Mark

you are by far the dumbest person on this board. Why do you even post. You have absolutely nothing to contribute. Stop posting on my question(s) because I am sick of listening to your "flaming" remarks. You are an idiot and an a-hole, so just leave my threads alone and stop hijacking every thread I start trying to make it into an argument rather than something productive. Why the hell would I buy a BMW? Just like why the hell would I buy a mustang or a suburu? Just stop hijacking every post I make or I will tell an administrator to watch your posts. Simple, if you have nothing to contribute shut your mouth.

I got a Illuminas/Eibach set up Its set at 4/4 and body roll on turns is really not an issue anymore. Its a rough ride sometimes if I change something I would get softer springs.

hey, hey, take it easy man, he was just saying that you cant make a maxima, something its not...which is a great handling car (i.e. BMW) but like everyone said get the RSB, RSTB, FSTB and the suspension setup. if you want full control i would suggest getting either the JIC coilovers or the Teins coilovers. i would stay away from the GC coilovers. if you want something cheaper get the illuminas with springs, like eibachs.

I have the same set up, except I have the Illuminas turned to 5/5. It can get a bit rough on really $hitty roads, but overall I love it! In fact, I like it so much that I have never tried any other settings but 5/5.

Slow Moe, we are also in the same city! Where in SD do you live?

You will feel every motion. Don't go with GC's. There are a couple owners on here who absolutely hate them. Very rough ride. If you want low and great handling still with a fine ride, I'd suggest Eibach or Progress. If you're not as worried about drop and want a near stock ride with improved handling, go w/ H&R. Many love theirs.

Thanks for the info house. I guess picking my springs will involve more research than I thought. I definately want to pick the right springs. The thing I liked about the GCs is you can adjust the ride height, so in the harsh winter I can raise the can back up. Also I am really not looking to drop my car but it seems like I will have to with all the aftermarket springs available, unless I can find an aftermarket spring that is stiffer but doesn't drop ride height or is adjustable. I know I will have bottoming out issues in upstate NY if I drop it more than a little.

Thanks,

Mark

In that case, go H&R. Mild drop and stock ride. Also, more info:http://www.innerbean.com/housecor/sp..._decision.html
