0-60 mph in...

8.3 seconds...This is for a 2001 Maxima SE AE which is Bone stock...does this number look right?
I know the 5.5 Gens go from 0-60 in roughly 6.7 seconds..
Any 2001 AE owners checked their timings? AE because of the revised intake (extra 5 HP)

Auto 5.5 gen is about 6.2s, you should be around 6.8-7.0, 8.3 is way too slow, might be smth wrong with your car

Another question...I've been timing my runs from 0-100Km/h, 100km/hr -120 kmph and 120-140kmph...
here are the times
100KM/H(62MPH) - 120KM/H(74.5MPH) = 4.8 sec
120KM/H(74.5MPH) - 140KM/H(87MPH) = 5.5 sec

I would reall really appreciate if someone with a stock 2000-2001 Maxima can confirm this...I can feel my cars been acting slugish lately, this will confirm it...
Thanks in advance

You need to specify whether your car is Auto/Manual? With the time you'd posted, I assumpt that it's an automatic?

I have a question for all your 5spds...when you take off and you really wanna hit it...I experience a lag from the clutch engaging and the response to the engine. I'm guessing that caused by the incorrect engine speed and the clutch engaging.

I've only have the car for about 6 weeks but I used to have a 626 and I had it down perfect on that car. In the max, I either light em up or buck the sh*t out of the car. Any suggestions??

The clutch engagement on our cars is definitely something that needs to work. I have similar problems launching the car. I also notice bucking in second gear. A lot of times when I want to get a quick launch I accidently chirp my 17's. It really annoys me, especially when I occasionally drive other manual cars that are so much more smooth than mine.

A lot of people with 5-speeds have the same issue as you are mentioning.

I suspect it's my tranny...but then again is there anyway of checking? Do you think the dealership will accept dyno results if they are bad? has anyone tried this?

hell, I chirp 2nd too.... and I've chirped third twice since putting in my hyperground....The problem w/the clutch is just that it's a long throw...took a while to get used to it coming from honda/acura for me but now don't even notice it..I'm talking about a stick shift of course...

as to the chirps....well, that's just what happens with a FWD car that has alot of power....if you didn't chirp then I'd be worried...

In the manual iteration that car should be doing 0-60 in the high 6s. Unfortunately a torquey fwd car like our maximas is very hard to launch aggressively without excess tirespin. Frankly I've not even tried to perfect the technique. If I ever drag somebody at the lights and get my *** handed to me because of a poor launch I may try and perfect it, but it's excess clutch wear that I am not interested in yet

FYI, 100Kmph is 63mph, not 60. There is a 3 mile difference, so there will be some discrepancy... But 8s+ is slow now matter what.

I've noticed that auto Maximas are not a good candidate to be racing a 5spd car with against from a 65MPH roll on. Maxima will be in 3rd and at very low RPMs- around 3700RPMs. Mine is pretty much even sometimes faster from a 70MPH roll than my friends Evo runing 22psi and 3" exhaust with DP with a S-AFCII. If I could only drive fast now... damaged CF hood is shaking at higher speeds like crazy from my accident yesterday. I'm affraid that the hood is gonna come flying off and hit someones car in proccess, cause I know its going to go straight up into the air if it leaves the front of my car..... AND land on someones car behind me.... Speed Kills, drive an automatic and live forever !

Read carefully...I wrote:
100KM/H(62MPH) - 120KM/H(74.5MPH) = 4.8 sec
120KM/H(74.5MPH) - 140KM/H(87MPH) = 5.5 sec

and not the 60 rmurdoch or EvilRoadsVictim mentioned

Thanks Arnold K. Thats the answer I was looking for.
7.5 and 8.3 are not tooooo off. I could live with that and not the fact that I was off by 1.8 seconds.

I'd be concerned. Your AE should be pulling much more. At least a second less...check your car out.

Yeah, it could very likely be a vias problem. He's probably dipping somewhere during his accell and it's holding him back.
