where is the best place to hide 3 amps
I have 3 amps in my car and they are all drilled into my sub box. it doesnt look to bad but damn it is hard to hide all those wires. i think my best bet is to just hide all of the amps. I there some way to make a custom trunk setup without loosing my spare tire and also keeping it accessible. I have one 12" sub with an amp and then a seperate amp for my rear speakers (bridged 4 channel) and a seperate amp for my components (bridged 4 channel). LOTS of WIRES

Here's what I built in my car. Same goals, no messy looking wires, keep lots of trunk space, AND keep the spare tire. I could have went with two tens after it was all said and done if I have designed the box differently. But there is definately plenty of room for a single 12" like my setup.

It's not a good idea to have amps secured to box's. I personally have had 2 amps go bad because crap rattled loose inside the amp.

What I did was move all the wires under the metal frame (the black large thing). Its a lot of work cause you have to remove the seats, the sides, the plastic, and the cover over the struts. But after I was finished zip tying all the wires together (left side and right side seperatly) it looked clean as heck. the pictures are from the first install I did and it was messy. But buy a lot of zip ties. They are your best friend when it comes to cleaning up wires. BTW, thats my sub box also. Its your standard truck box... 30 inches wide I think and 14 inches tall. Its upside down also.

My friend who is an installer said that he is going to help me redo my entire trunk and place the amps in the side of the trunk and then build a custom enclosure. I have been reading up on fiberglassing and i might build my enclosure out of it and paint it the same color grey as the trunk but shiny as hell. What do you guys think.

Yeah I want to do fiberglass, bu ti heard that its:
1. Time consuming
2. Messy
3. Worth the results if done right.
Hell if you get good at it, maybe you can some side skirts for our 2k 2k1's

Yeah i got a bunch of directions too. I posted this not to long ago in the car audio forum. Another thing I learned is that fiberglas aint cheap. A gallon is around $25 and some people have used 3 gallons on one medium sized enclosure.

I definately would not recommend leaving all amps on the box because say somebody steals your box. Then you loose everything and it just makes it that much easier and faster to take. I've got 1 amp mounted on the back of the bigger part of the back seat. My TV tuner is mounted on the small part and my second amp is mounted under my driver's seat. Under the passenger seat I have my X-Box, which could easily accomodate another amp. That way everything is pretty hidden and would take someone a long time to take everything. Check my homepage for pics of installs.

Fiberglass is not as hard as people think it is. The materials for a fiberglass box will only run you about $100-150. It just takes more time to do than wood. Fiberglass is not a liquid it is fibers, kind of like the insulation in your attic but thicker. The epoxy is what makes it hard and the epoxy is liquid. There is no way you would use 3 gallons of epoxy on one meduim enclosure. One gallon of epoxy tops, it's about $20 a gallon.
