20k miles in 2 months?
According to carfax, Im the 3rd owner of my MAX with 73k miles. The 1st owner had it for 52k miles. The 2nd owner put just shy of 20k miles on the car within 2months and 3days of ownership (!) and sold the car. That's over 350miles/day, 7days a week! Should I have my car searched for drugs or what? Any ohter ideas as to how this milage got accumulated so quickly?

I used to drive 250 miles daily for around 6months on my Max. My GF lived 90 miles round trip away from my house, and my work was 100 miles round trip. This didn't include gettaways to Wisconsin for the weekend n such. I put 50 K miles on my car in about a year... I have chilled down some... I only got 100 on mine in 3 years now.

carfax clearly states 2nd owner had the car for 2months and 4days - still cannot believe 20k miles in that amount of time - crazy stuff. funny thing is, when i got the max its windshield had a bunch of change oil stickers with no more than 3k miles in between the oil changes. the interior was another story, with cofee/food stains everywhere - i think the previous owner practically lived in the car. drug runner, perhaps?

I was thinking rental too, but things were not adding up - Why did it show up as privatley onwed on carfax? When was the last time you saw a 5-speed sedan rental? Why would the rental company keep the car for TWO months?
As I mentioned before, the interior was extremly dirty and I did also find some personal info on the previous owner (prescription bottle, credit card applications etc.) in the car's spare tire compartment - address and everything. Im tempted to contact the woman (yes a SHE) to find out WTF but perhaps that's just going too far.
I thought the MAX was perhaps used as by a drug runner, but found no evidence of removing door panels. Any other thoughts?

Personally, I would contact them. I bought my '03 SE several months ago from a private dealer, who had bought it off a dealer from a trade-in. I had no reason to doubt the dealer I got it from, who said that it was an older guy that had the car for about 1.5 years (11K miles) that decided to trade it in on one of the new Thunderbird convertibles. When checking out the car, I saw the maintenance records and other paperwork with the owner's manual, and saw the guy's name, address, and number. I contacted him to see if that really was the story and the previous owner verified it. So, I doubt the previous owner would get too terribly upset if you tried to contact them. Just tell them that you found their info left inside the car and you were just curious about the 20K in 2 months purely from a knowledge standpoint to know if you needed to get anything specially checked or anything. The girl should buy that.
