Also, is there an aftermarket filter that is cheaper than factory?

You just unscrew the glovebox and associated trim and pull it out, basically. It's slightly more complicated than that, but not much. Housecor tells you how. He's got a great site.

Thanks to Rayn4est, I jumped onto Jerry Rome Nissan and found the microfilter for $42.10 compared to $45.62 at Courtesy. Hope that helps...

I took mine out...DIRTY!!...rinsed it off with water and let it dry...put it back in

local dealer 52 after taxes.. swapped it out .. the stock one was one piece ..looked like made out of paper.. the replacement is 2 pieces hmmm
the original was filthy ....it had some insects in it leaves ...and too much dust .....LOL

Hey thanks for the replies...I do think I read in the manual that rinsing it out and letting it dry is good enough - I just wasn't sure where it was. I know mine hasn't been touched in over 20k miles of driving so I was thinking it might help the a/c efficiency if I cleaned it. Not that the a/c doesn't work great, but even a little colder a little quicker is definitely better
