60,000 mile maintenence
60,000 mile maintenence
I am quickly approaching 60K on my 2K and am trying to figure out everything I need to do to my max. Ill be changing the oil (m1 synth) and Ill clean the K&N, rotate the tires, and look over the car.. My brakes were done by nissan when I bought the car at 42K and I haven't heard any squeaks, I flushed the radiator and did 2 drain and fills of the ATF with M1, changed plugs at 55K. Any other suggestions? Are there EGR valves and such that should be changed? How long are the belts and hoses good for? brakes? I will be leaving to go back to college in about a week and will be forced to leave the protective garage and helpful tools behind!
Some 5th gens have already passed 100k, that's why...
Some of the suggestions for the 60,000 service as far as I can remember were:
Change Oil/Filter
Replace Fuel Filter
Clean/Replace Transmission Fluid
Replace Spark Plugs
Replace Belts (have the dealer look at them first)
Flush/Replace Coolant
There was a list somewhere, if you care to search for it.

I have 70k on a 2002
At 60k I did this at the dealer: (did not have time to do myself).
Oil change
Air filter change
Coolant Flush
M/T flush
New belts
Tire rotation
New Microfilter
New wiperblades
Lube everything (doors, sunroof, etc)
Check battery.
Cost me $240.

I'm at 72k.
I basically did what Maximadmoiselle did.
add. brakes changed. pads & surfaced rotors. all 4.
i also changed 2 fans belts. they had little cracks.(i think thats when
he meant by belts)

1) I'm a "she" not a "he"
2) I haven't done that yet because I'm not close to 60k yet, but that's what I can recall from the 60k checkup list
3) Yes, we have a timing chain, belts should be changed at ~60k ($15 each, no big deal) but some people have lasted over 100k with their stock ones. That's why you have to let them look at it first.
The only thing that I did not see you mention at the beginning of this thred is your oil filter which needs to b e changed with every oil change. Your hoses should be good for 5 years at least. As to the belts make sure that you inspect them and look for small cracks in the belt on the underside. If the cracks are there it's much better to replace than to have one go out on the highway. Everyone's right about the timing chain no maint required (unlike my 91 SE where the belt needs to be changed every 70K.
2 things to consider as your car gets past 50k miles is the water pump and the rubber boots on the CVJs.
