MAF and ECU reset question

I have a 2000 Maxima. It has 55K miles on it. It is starting to hesitate when I step on the gas and seems to take a long time holding the gas pedal down to get the revs up.

Question: If I install a new MAF do I have to get the ECU Flashed for the new program (recalibrated)? What happens if I do not get the ECU flashed?

Thanks

2k with those problems sounds like ignition coils to me. Same thing happened when mine went out. I can get them for 260 to your door instead of payin 600 at the dealership if that happens to be the case

Replaced the ignition coils one month ago. Fixed the pinging but not the hesitation.

change the pcv, air filter, clean the throttle body, check VIAS. if you change the MAF, leave the -ve battery disconnected over night

I did change the spark plugs and air filter. I cleaned the pcv but will try replacing it. What are VIAS? How do you clean the throttle body?

Thanks

I have a 2000 SE and was having the same exact problems. A buddy of mine works at a local Nissan dealership and replaced my MAF and flashed the ECU for 170 bucks. The hesitation is gone, and the car runs much stronger. He suggested taking off my intake because it allows larger particles of dirt to affect the MAF. I haven't decided what I'm going to do as far as that is concerned though.

no. in fact, i didn't even reset the ECU by unplugging the battery. car runs purrrrfect.

I might, though, reset the ECU this weeked and see if my gas mileage improves any...I usually only get 22-23 mpg city/hwy mix, which I think is a little bit low....
