Code P0420, manual states its the catalyst system fault right bank. Anyone had this problem? do i have to change the catalyst?

 

I have the same thing. There is nothing wrong with your car. The ECU needs to be re-programed.

 

Join the crowd on this code. You could take it to Dealer to see if they can find out whats wrong. you could try resetting the cpu and see if that works, (most of the time it dosent). Or you could do like me and replace the CAT for $100 and never have the code again :-) The choice is yours.

 

if you have under 80k miles, you are covered under a federally mandated emissions warranty.

I have no warranty left, 80K it runs out on emissions.
$100 to have Nissan Diagnose
They WILL update the firmware if necessary (probably will be). If it does no fix the problem, it will probably require a PreCat, List Price $609. Labor $245. Total Cash is about $1,000.

If you are under warranty, great.

I bought my Precat from DirectNissanParts.com out of AZ. got 25% off and had a friend install it for $100.
