The tail lights are easy to remove. You just need an extension socket, 6mm or 8mm, I can't remember off hand. The tail lights are held on by 4 bolts. Once all bolts are remove, you must push outward real hard because it's held on with that thick black sealant. Yeah, the tails can be swapped from 2K1 to 2K2 or vice-versa. But, you must have the correct harness for the particular year because the bulb holders are different.

just be wary of the lighting harness, splicing may be required if the bulbs dont match up. i had a 2k2 clear tail and swapped it with blazin2k's all red tails and cutting\splicing of wiring was necessary to complete it.

I noticed the clear/black tails on eBay say bolt-in for 02-03, "some rewiring" for 00-01

I tried to swap my 02 tails for all red tails. Everything was fine until i tried to turn the lights on. The brake light and reverse lights work, but the tail light doesnt light up when I turn on the headlights. Any ideas on how to fix this without splicing?

just found out that it was one of the bulbs which had a broken filament to be the cause of the lights not working, now just need to get new bulbs and the lights will work fine

I have a 2k3 and I'm looking to trade my sliver tails for someone's y2k or 2k1 SE tails...

Depending on the potential "trader" I can send you my tails, let you install them and take out yours on the same day (so you won't be without a car) and then send the old ones to me. I can do this because I have a second car..

anyone interested?

so you just took the tail lights out and put them back in your 2002? no rewiring? no mess?

that's correct..just unplug the 02 tails from the harness and plug the 01 tails in and they should work fine

Uh, we upgraded (?) our 2k1 SE with 2k2 tails. Ordered new tails and then realized that Nissan had revised several of the wiring plugs. Had to order 2k2 harnesses and splice into the 2k1 harnesses. Sold the old tails a while back, so please don't ask.

You don't need to do any splicing. Simply obtain the bulb holders from your new (well, junk yard removed) clear tails as well, and trace them back to where they plug into the wiring harness (attached to the donor vehicle). This plug is the SAME on both the '00-'01 and '02-03'. The bulb holders are different, so you can't use your old bulb holders in your new lights.

Refer to my web site if you are ordering the tails; they won't come with the required harness, but it's available from Nissan.
