Generic O2 sensors versus oem.

I recently had to change an 02 sensor, my warranty ran out a whilke ago so I have to pay for all repairs. Dealer cost for 02 sensor was aobut $150 including tax w out labor price. So I found out the autoparts store close to me sells generic O2 sensors. A very simple alternative at a price about $50. I just spliced the the generic 02 sensor with the wiring of the old sensor. Took 15 min and much cheaper than at dealer.
I was wondering if there is a difference between the oem sensors and the generic ones.

I am wondering that too. I may need to replace the front two oxygen sensors, and can't see paying an extra $15 each if the only difference is the connector. I'm not a pro with a soldering iron, but I think I can manage to solder four wires on each of two sensors.

The auto parts stores mostly sell Bosch sensors. I'm not sure if anyone else really makes them. The stock O2 sensors say Bosch on them.
