HID Theft with Aftermarket Alarms

I have my HIDs sitting my basement and want to get them put back in and get DataDots done. I know people still get them stolen after that but have those with aftermarket alarms had yours stolen as well? Do you think between DataDots and a great alarm system I will be safe? Safe from at least 95% of the thiefs that is.

If your alarm has thwarted an attempt please let me know what kind you have. I am of course in the worst area for HID theft... NJ

Thanks a lot.

i know one of my friends put a motion sensor on his stock alarm

basically the alarm will go off the there is "excessive" force being applied on one part of the car.
you can adjust the sensitivity..
he did that cause he got some rims ..
but i think you can do the same with lights.. if they apply to much force to the light the alarm will go off.

Talk to this guy:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=246320

He’s in Edison and he just did an alarm on my fiancee’s 2002. He will help you and answer any questions you might have. He’s a great help. I got a Viper 791 with additional shock sensors on the back of the HID’s. Her parents were complaining yesterday that the alarm was going off when the dog across the street barked! Little too sensitive

He's off Route 1 near Woodbridge Avenue. Shoot him a PM or give him a call. PM me if you want his number... not sure he'd want too many people calling him

I thank you for directing me to somebody that can install and alarm, but I wanted to know about .org members that have aftermarket alarms and if it has prevented the theft of the headlights. Especially in combination with the data dots.

Too early to tell for me yet... it's only been a few days and the car hasn't been back to Jersey City since. Don't have the datadots yet either - I'm trying to get more info on them. Only time will tell...

Nothing can prevent 'good' thieves from getting what they want, basically if they really want it, they'll get it- but an alarm with proximity and shock sensors(which draw attention) is something i'm quite sure they rather not deal with since it would require more work

My advice is also get a spare battery mounted elsewhere in the car so they cannot disconnect it directly from the main battery should they get through your grill and open your hood-

Don (Pearl96max) is the best Maxima alarm specialist- org members drive 5-6 hrs out to get their DEI alarms put in by him)

Thanks for letting me know, I have heard some good and one bad story. I figure between DataDots and a nice new Viper I should be all set. I saw a car with two steel bars wrapped across the headlights yesterday, I found that quite intriguing...

What I meant was to more or less have his phone number floating around on the internet for ANYONE to call him. He's a nice guy and all but I'm sure calls from people who aren't really interested in an alarm and more or less wasting his time wouldn't be welcome. Guess I can't just describe it in words...

That said, I did say to PM or e-mail if you'd like his number and I have no new PM's or e-mails so I'm assuming you're not interested in his number :P
