Nissan is replacing my auto tran..Finally!
After many attempts to try to get Nissan to replace my auto tran on my 01 max they finally agreed to it. They said the tran slipped from 1st to 2nd, and from 2nd to 3rd. Hopefully my new trans while shift smoothly. If your tranny still slips, you got to just push Nissan before they actually do anything. O, ya, i did have the TSB done on the tgran 5 months ago, but it did nothing. has anyone else got a new trans out of nissan. How is it? I have to wait 3 weeks for mine. Im hoping its better than the old one.

well, ill be honest with you, my father knew a guy at work who used to work at a Nissan dealership. That helped a little. The next thing you wnat to do is actually take someone from nissan, preferably a mechanic, out for a drive so you can pin point the problem. When it happens make sure they feel the problem. The manager gave me a bunch of bull**** about how he never heard about any problems with the max auto tranny. I just laughed. They dont want to admit to their crappy trans. Just keep pushing for it. As for my 01 max, i have about 43000 miles on it, so a little warrenty is left of the powertrain. Hopefully this new tran will be much better. O, ya make sure you bring a copy of the TSB when you go, although it didnt work the first time for me either.

Im kinda a novice when it comes to tranny's. How can you tell when it is slipping? Punch the gas and it jerks you and the car? Or, normal acceleration and it doesnt seem to switch gears right away, then all of a sudden a strong jerk. Any ideas, 'cause I still have an extended warranty and may want or need it fixed.

I think slipping is when the tran tires to go from first to sencond, but delays, leaving the rpms high, but you going nowhere. My car does that, but it also can have a very jerky feel to it. For example, if i push the gas in 3/4 of the way, it will shift at around 5K rpms, with a jerk that can be felt, its not smooth at all. Im actually hopeing the tranny i get will be crap. It will be a good excuse for me to trade in for a 5 spd.
