Replacing Reverse light switch. Anyone done it?
2000 maxima, with 5 speed. When I put it in reverse gear, lgiths on the back don't light up. If i wiggle with shifter a bit, they may go on, but won't stay. Was diagnosed with faulty or bad reverse light switch.
Has anyone replaced it? I think its under the car next to transmission. Any suggestions? and is it a complex thing to do?
Thanks ahead.

It goes in the transmission, outside on the bottom. Looks like a black plastic plug with a wiring harness coming out of it. Cheap to buy at the dealer, and fairly easy to replace, just one small bolt and one electrical connection.
But beware, removing it will completely drain your transmission of fluid, so you must catch it in something to avoid a huge mess.

Thanks.
Thanks.
Mine is doing the same thing, the lights tend to take like 2-3 seconds to finally turn on and I diagnosed it myself that its the reverse /neutral safety switch. 1 10mm bolt holds it in place. I change my Redline ShockProof gear lube every 30K miles, and its fine.
