My AE 2k2 headlight test

Here is test headlight to see how it would look like to smoke the 2k2 headlight. Not paint it black but smoked it with Tamiya smoke PS-31 paint. Tell me what you think.

hmmm... looks like you just painted it black. are you trying to give off the effect that it is metal that is tinted black or did you just try to make it flat black.
Still looks nice though.

I can tell it's not flat black, definitely lighter. Thing is, it looks stock to me. My stock color looks like that in certain lighting...i.e. under the shade at dusk....

I will have to show a side by side comparsion. If it was painted black you wouldn't get the reflection of the chrome rings and lenses. I will take a better pic in the sunlight. I like the amber piece in it still but like I said it's a test light I still have the two on the car.

Looks good to me. I like how the metal isn't completely dark. Too bad it would be hard to open up some 2k2 2k3 tailights and do the same thing.

BTW, did you use the spray tamiya or the bottle tamiya. I used the spray on my headlights and bottle on my fogs.

I am keeping in the orange piece. Next is the angel eyes. I want to be different and avoid the cops. The cops here don't care about the sidemarkers only the front and back.

but if you use amber bulbs in there youll be fine... i guess to each his own. But i think its silly having them apart and not just clearing them out.

After deciding I am going to take out the amber piece. This was only a test light i still go to do the two on the car. Info for anybody who wants to do this is I used the Tamyia smoke PS-31 paint used for lexan R/C bodies. I used one can on the light but you could use more. It still keeps the reflective look that you wouldn't get with flat black.

I think the "bronze" looks pretty good in the sun, and the "black" looks great out of the sun.....

But i still like this more.....I'm all about the dark look!:
