attach a foglight to the bottom of your bumper and wire it to the reverse light so when you put it in reverse, the light turns on.

THats really the only way to get a "bright light" back there. THe regular reverse bulb and hosuing is pretty small, and is not really meant for projecting a beam

I've got PIAA Xtreme whites. They might be brighter than stock, but not enough for me. I've heard Polarg Superwhite M6s are nice. I think Irish44j runs them.

Yep....the Polarg's are significantly brighter than stock, and other people have commented on how bright they are as well, so it's not just my perception...

They worked out great and I like how the LED's are white and not blue like regular filament bulbs, so the reverse light lenses don't give off a blueish tint. I like the clean white look for all my lights even when they are not on. Take a look at my website and I have some pics of them under the lighting section. I have bought led's from superbrightleds.com before and they are still looking great two years later....

MaximusMorpheus, for the dome bulb, do they still stay on very dim all the time after you close the door?

They look great at night but does the blue color of the bulb come through during the day when the bulbs are unlit?

yes, but if you don't want them to do that, you can spray paint them with a light coat of silver enamel paint and they will be "stealth"

Use the Leds, but why is there so much concern? I guess you live in the back woods of Bergen County

I think the reverse light bulbs do the job and people know when I am backing up. I just did my car inspection and if I would have had any blue tint on my reverse lights I would not have passed....

For the Dome bulb, they act the same as a stock bulb except they don't dim when you lock the car. They just turn on.

which bulbs are those? i bought a pair from that site to replace my clearanace lights but ended up using polarg M4s instead. now i don't know if i should use the led's for the backup lights or go polarg all around.

i just tried the 9led bulbs from autolumination.com and i didn't like they way they looked. the color was definitely better that the stock bulbs but the light coming from the LEDs was too concentrated and as a result you can see the bulb lit up inside the housing instead of the whole thing being lit up. it also didn't light up the area behind my car as well as the stock bulb. what i want to know is -- are the M6s the same way or do they light up bright and full like the stock bulbs but only without the yellow color. thanks.

Thanks for the tip VMaximus but I just ordered a pair of Polarg M6 bulbs from optauto.com. I figured this way I will have Polargs all around. When these burn out I'll be sure and check out that site for replacements. I know that reverse lights are not made to light up the road but with my tints it's hard to see the curb when I'm parallel parking at night and the stock bulbs sort of light it up. That's why I was looking for something brighter. Do you have any pics of your bulbs?

Oops, I deleted my previous post because I realized that the recommeded Wide-Angle LED will probably not fit the rear backup housing. They are the replacement for stock 194, not 921 (rear backup bulbs).

I had similar LED bulbs as you and the lights output are much brighter but are more concentrated, as you had mentioned. I had the Wide-Angle LED bulbs installed in the trunk and the headlight markers. They are pretty good at spreading out the lights. Sorry, no pictures of them lights.
