Also, what's the farthest north you'd be willing to drive? I'm in Northern VA... I think the best thing would be if we could meet up somewhere so that neither of us would have to go w/o tails for any period of time.... I need my car everyday...

You got to disconnect the bulb harness though... not the bulbs.
the bulbs go with the lenses, so you leave the bulbs in and disconnect the big white plug that the bulb wires run into.
then when you swap, you plug the harness back in...
EASY !!!

I've thought about doing this as well, but will probably just purchase some off ebay so I can keep my 2K2 tails.
Tails going from a 2k2 to a 2k1 need the whole wiring harness, but tails going from a 2k1 to a 2k2 you can just unplug the bulbs right?

I'm another member of the anti 5.5 gen tails club
Since I've changed them everyone I know noticed the difference and loved the black/carbon fibre look. I think they only look good on light colors if you also have tints & black headlights to match.

BTW, to those who have done the swap: do you need to heat anything up (sealant or anything) to get the tails off?
Thanks
