I just discovered today that my car is Cali spec.

consequently, I am reluctant about getting a y-pipe cause the power difference is not gonna be as much as the Fed spec.

so, I want to ask you all: did you all notice an increase in power after installing the Y-pipe? No imaginations please! did you really notice the power?

Thanks all.

I didn't notice a major difference. "Felt" more from the CAI.

that's kind of why I am hesitant to get one also....since I have cali spec, I think I will wait and see if the Fed spec exhaust manifold experiment works out....

I am ordering the Stillen 2-piece tomorrow. I'll obviously install it ASAICWTWK. That stands for "As Soon As I Can Without The Wife Knowing"!!!!!!! Heck, I'm still trying to get my stupid underdrive pulley installed (yes Adam, it's still in my trunk!)

I am planning on getting my car dynoed next Thursday, but I doubt I will have the y-pipe by then. At least I will have good pre-conversion dyno results for comparison. I imagine I will get dyno results a week or two after I install the pipe/manifold.

Use my procedure to install the pulley, Phil (no air tools).

Yeah I agree not much difference. Not enough to justify the $400.

Kevin, where is your procedure? I only see pics on your site. I reefed on this ***** with something wedged into the flywheel for quite a while and still couldn't break it loose. I thought I had it at one point in time, only to find out that I had broken my torque wrench (I was using it because it was the biggest **** I could find). Are you referring to the blipping of the starter method?

dont use a torque wrench...u will break it as u found out. use a breaker bar, wedge it so it will loosen when the starter is bumped by a friend.

I have a Cali-spec too and I just got it installed. The main thing I was worried about was the noise...alot of guys say it makes your car very loud almost like "bees in a can". I thought I was impressed by the "growl" the CAI gave my car but the Y-Pipe "growl" is even sweeter! Its not loud at all it just gives your car a deeper "growl" kinda like a muscle car growl but Nissan style!!!
I do notice a bit of a power increase also. My low-end seems more powerful, the car seems to accelerate faster but w/less effort. I think I noticed about the same increase in power from the Y-Pipe and the CAI. I got both of them from Cattman.

PS...still dont know how to make a sig!!! #(@*$&

I wish I had a breaker bar. The biggest thing I have is my stupid 1/2" drive (maybe 13-14" long). My torque wrench was a good 4-5" longer and rated higher than the recommended torque of 140ft-lbs in the instructions. I thought if the factory put it on at the spec'ed torque, my wrench should have been fine. Oops!

Remember our emails back and forth? Use a breaker bar and put it up against the arm, then crank the car but don't start it. It should break the crank bolt loose. To put it back on, use a hammer and hit the breaker bar while it's on the bolt. Now do you remember?

Gee, Kev. Based on all of the stuff on your website, I actually expected a step by step illustrated procedure like:

Step 1 - Get car keys.
Step 2 - Unlock door.
Step 3 - Sit in car.
Step 4 - Put keys in ignition.
Step 5 - Turn ignition clockwise three clicks.
Step 6 - Immediately turn ignition CCW one click.
.
.
.

Of course I expected pictures of each of these steps too. I guess I'll just have to settle for less than perfection.

I might give it a go tonight. I'm a little grubby after beginning my OSCAI work already. I am thinking of removing my JWT POP and doing the OSCAI, just to keep the noise down a bit. I figure by adding the y-pipe it'll get a little louder and I may want to quiet it down with the OSCAI.

Anyhow, thanks for the reminder.

Yeah! But you're not using a Nissan filter!

Now loosen the tension on the belt and swap it!

No problem... this process is easier than taking off the starter and wedging the wheely thingy isn't it?

Actually I removed a cover on the bottom side of the engine and wedged something in the flywheel there. The starter looked like a beeahtch!
