i just notied that...when the car has been standing for a while(if it's cold) first time when u start the car u will get ping/rattle noise coming from the engine...what could that be..???........it sounds like valve's are messing up or something... but again....i have no idea what that could be...it only does that when the car was standing for a while and it's its cold...

Your best bet is to take it to your dealer.

lifter noise. Try using a one step lower viscosity oil in the colder months. And use synthetic if you aren't already. Mine will do the same thing from time to time, early in the mourning, if I use 10w-30 in cooler weather.

the noise you are hearing is the VTC cams that just don't get the oil pressure they need immediately. Especially when the vehicle has been sitting and the oil has had time to drain out. This should only be for about 1 sec. anything longer and you may want to get the dealer to look at it. I know there was a TSB for this particular issue.

I know this is a different issue but I also hear a different sound, like when cranking at startup, and the torque converter is spinning up, I hear like a rattle/engagement very suddenly and withing 1-2 seconds of startup. Any ideas? Its not a serious issue I am sure but kinda annoying and makes the car feel cheap. I have 38k on my 2002 auto gle by the way.
