I have decided on getting a Y2K SE's muffler with 2.5 inch piping from the cat back on my car. I would like to know which muffler is it that has the Flap in it that opens up during WOT? And where would be the best place to get the muffler? Oh and is it just on the SE's that have the Flap in there and the stainless steel cover on the piping?

 

They all have flaps, but the SE version has the chrome cover. Best place to get a muffler? Probably off one of the guys with aftermarket mufflers. Otherwise, try Courtesy.

 

I think all models have the flap, only difference between and se and gxe/gle is the chrome tip. (which looks like it has been slotted over the regular muffler. Best place to buy: unfortunately I don't think anyone outside Nissan dealers carry the muffler.

All the 5th generations have this feature. I think it shuts off the left muffler tip at idle leaving only the right one open. It only opens up when there is enough backpressure. At WOT, It opens up at 2,000rpms. The stainless steel cover, I'm assuming you mean the tips, are on the SE and the GLE models. It is available as in accessory on GXE's.
