'04 350Z Stock Wheel Problems

I have a set of '04 350Z stock wheels ( 17" - 7 spoke alloys ). My problem is that the rears rub the quarter panels under heavy bumps or hard turns. I have a '00 SE with Tein S-Tech springs and stock shocks. My car has 23k miles on it, and the car has been dropped for about 3 months. Is this rubbing due to the shocks being dead ( I know BlackbirdVQ is laughing at me right now, and saying I told you so. But what can you do. ) or is it simply an offset problem. I believe that the rears are a +35 with a 235/50/17 tire. It can't be the tires being too high ( 50 series ) can it? Or is it a combination of all of the above? I'm almost sure that if I had Illuminas in there, it wouldn't be a problem. I've seen guys running G35 coupe 18's (On Max's) and they have 245's on the rears with the same offset I believe. So does anybody on the org have 350Z stocks on their Max with NO probs? What do you guys think, or do I just need to invest in new struts? Let me know

I don't know what your problem is, but I tell you Tein S Tech springs will kill your stock shocks pretty quickly. The offset is pretty low, but I'm sure that's not the problem.

I have an idea, dont put wheels on your car, that dont belong on it. That might solve your problem. I had 19 X 8.5 wheels on my Max, with Teins, and they never rubbed. You go slap wheels from a RWD car with different offsets, what do you expect.

My friend had the same wheel like you in his 00/01 I believe, and that tire WILL rub on the rear bumper cover, and he end up grinding a little piece off of the rear bumper where it RUB,Not to bad looking either.Hope this help.

Yeah, it looks cool, but I took 'em off my car after a month. It doesn't rub too badly, but enough to irritate me and take them off. They've been off my car for almost 2 months now. I was trying to sell them at first, but I actually do like the way they looked on the car. I guess I'm just trying to figure out if I change my shocks if it'll solve that issue, and then I can put the rims back on. I'm almost sure that if I went with a skinnier 235/45/17, then it would help too.

Something is going on there...I ran a 275/30/19 tire on a 19x9.5 wheel with Tein S. Techs and had no problem rubbing in the rear. YES over huge dips in the high way it might rub, but it was never really a problem. I think the offset on those wheels is 30 so that MIGHT be a problem. I still can't understand why it would act that way though.

Thats not necessarly correct. I am running rims off a Q45T 2004 which is also rear wheel drive. Not only do they fit perfect, but I never had it rub once.

not sure what the offset is but they might be too low for your drop.

I double checked and the fronts are a 17x7.5 with a +30 offset. The rears are a 17x8 with a +33 offset. What if any, is the RECOMMENDED offset for our cars? I wouldn't mind using these, but I don't want any rubbing. I guess worst case scenarion, I could roll the outer wheelhouse on both the left and right quarter panels. But I'd rather try and figure out if it's strictly an offset problem, a strut problem, or whatever the hell it is. Thanks

I am running G35 Coupe wheels with no rubbing at all. 18x8 with 30mm offset and 235/40/18's tires.

I was actually looking at buying a set of those, but with the rubbing that I had with the 350Z wheels, I figured it would be worse because of the 50 series tires and the offset. Anybody have Teins and these same wheels? It's seems like its hard to pin point the problem. Anymore ideas?
