Sea Foam, I just bought one... will post any changes.....

The vacuum procedures speed up the removal of carbon deposit process. If there are too much accumulation of carbon deposits, chances are you will see similar negative results as mentioned.
I used it on my 5th gen max. It drives much better, with a lot of restored hp.
My friends 4th gen, when we did it, it smoked a fog, thats how dirty it was with 150k miles never cleaned.
The best way to do it is have someone idle the car at 2-3k rpm. Slowly dip the vacuum into the fluid and take it out, I do it about 5 times before the cup is empty.
Did it today for a friend from the maxima meet in LI. Ask how much smoke we got out of that 4th gen. We sure did get a crowd.

^^^ You can TRY doing it again. This time around, have someone to rev up the engine at around 1.5-2K and let the vacuum ingests the seafoam fluid. Keep the engine running once the treatment is done. Rev up the engine hard several times to help the dissolved carbon deposits to exit out through the exhaust valves. After that shut down the engine and perform the ECU reset procedures.
I wish you luck with the issues!

THe bottle says to put in 1/3 of the bottle... did you put in more than that? Might have triggered it then... I would let it run in the driveway for a while and let it regain its composure...it sometimes helps...

Problems:
SES-came on as soon as I re-started her.
During the first drive when I came to a stop light, it almost died on me. When I accelerated, it started back-firing like crazy. A few minutes later the back-firing/missing went away. I drove straight to AutoZone, and they were closed.
It may be that something was already wrong with her, and using SeaFoam pushed her over the edge...
Will post the code tomorrow...

Pull the vacuum hose from the above photo, stick the hose in 1/3 of the product in a plastic cup, trun off the car, wait like 5 minutes, connect the hose back, turn the car on. Accelerate the car on a steady 3k RPM, I started at 1k and go up, repeat the acceleration until all the white smoke is gone. Then drive it slowly and see how it is performing.

Just did the SeaFoam treatment on my AE that has 48500 miles on it and my entire street was under a cloud of white smoke, lol. I bet my neighbors love me now.
I will tell you this though, it doesn't take much for this stuff to shut down your engine. I just barely dipped the vacuum hose into a cup of it and on like the fourth dip the engine gave out and a weird reaction happened -- the hose connected to the end of my berk intake popped off the intake and a bit of white smoke came out. No SES light though before or after the treatment. Will see later how it drives now.

No reason to be scared.....I just went out for a drive and there is definitely a noticeable difference at idle and the throttle response feels a little bit better. I am a satisfied customer at this point.

it sounds like you didnt let it run long enough to clean everything out. it almost dies on you because of all the carbon build uo that was still in the cylinders

Got an SES
well I did it and got an SES, but I'm sure it just tripped something running the stuff through there, enough smoke came out the back.. Resetting the ECU as I sit here and hoping that it doesn't show up again... Sooner had said they only had it at small shops in NoVA, but I found it at Advance Auto Parts, so it looks like most of the auto places carry it.

Nice product for the price......
They have another product for the tranny. I'm going to change the tranny oil in a month so I'll be posting my findings on that product too. Hope I don't screw it up.

It's more than likely blow by and all the oil is just getting burning in the cylider then pushed out the exhaust.
Would anyone recommend seafoam for her? Her throttle body is pretty dirty as well.

here. I emptied rest of the can into the fuel tank. SES went away. I pushed her, a few times tonight. And yes I can definitely feel the difference. Smooth REV’s, and I can feel more pull.

speech....
Weirdly, on my friends quest, he tried using seafoam and it gave him a bit of problems.
He said even after he did it, about an hour later, it was still heavily smoaking. But I think he just put the vacuum right into the cup and didnt let it breathe.
Seafoam is good stuff, I will be trying some more next week. My Cat is all clogged up.

For any of those who used Seafoam through their vacuum lines and/or especially the gas tank to clean the carbon deposits, do a oil change as soon as you can. You'll be surprised how much carbon desposits accumulate in the oil pan after Seafoam treatment. If you did add Seafoam in the gas tank, drive until you emptied most of your gas out of the tank then do the oil change, other than that do it as soon as you can.

I'm using my car (Max) today after doing it on Sunday...and WOW... I was driving and had to accelerate hard to pass a big Semi and WOW, I can feel the push of the car again, It seel like it brand new again. I'm changing the oil Mobil Syn on Saturday and going to flush it out with a Valvoline product....to be sure I get rid of all the crap from Sunday
I use it 3 times on my car already. As of right now, I have 130,000 miles in my car. The idle is smooth. You guys who wants to find out more about Seafoam should got to the Fluids and Lubricants section under Maintenance.
