i am about to get a 02 SE with between 35 and 50 thousand miles on it. i will have about a thousand dollar allowance after i purchase this vehicle. i need help on what i should do first with this car allowance. i know that the maximas have rotor problems and maf problems and little things like that. can anyone tell what things i should get done first and foremost to have a nice vehicle. thank you in advance
suspention period. MAF problems are with engine mods like intake if you blow it. and the rotors all warp just change them to brembos or something.
bottom line SUSPENTION!!!!!!

It really depends on your needs. Do you desire performance, exterior looks or ride quality? In my humble opinion, the basic list comes down to this:
1. Tires: Kumho, Yokohama, Nitto, Falken etc. (if you havent replaced the Potenzas yet)
2. Suspension: springs and shocks
3. Tint
4. Performance: intake + y-pipe
Edit: I am not really sure if what you are asking is a modding matter or just a maintenance matter, but Maxima is a durable vehicle and will last long without interference, just change the oil occasionaly and fill it up with a 91 Octane, and do periodical maintenance checks for brakes, fluids etc. Other than that you should be good.

i agree with tek_nig. get rid of the 4x4 look first. a lot of ppl here change the suspension and drive on stock wheels. the rotors will need changed soon, but you can get the stock ones turned-down and buy some time.
rear sway bar is a must as well.
cold air intake will give you the nice growl and some HP increase. there is a GD going on these days. check the GD section.
good luck

Well, first off, I am concerned with making sure the car is healthy. For instance...the rotors are good, the spark plugs are good, the coil overs are good....things like that. Basically, I am looking for a list of little things that are easy to do yourself or things that other maxima owners have experienced that I need to take care of or watch out for. And maybe how much these things will cost. As far as upgrading the engine power, I really want to get my car over 300 ponies...I just dont know if there is a way to do that without jepordizing the life of the car. If I can get my car to 300 ponies without hurting the engine life to bad...will it make my car sound like a ricer? I only really want performance mods that will not hurt my engine life to bad. Anyway, if anyone can help me out anymore than that would be ****ing sweet!
