Newton Meters / How to convert to ft. lbs. of torque?

Does any one know the formula for converting Newton Meters (N-m's)to foot pounds of torque? I am installing my Illuminas and after reading Housecors' article in the "How To" stickie (by the way, thanks for the great instructions!), I am confused. He says the strut to steering knuckle should be from 140 - 159 N-m's and the strut upper mounts should be 39-54 N-m's. Being an old street racer from the 60's I don't have the slightest idea what Housecor is talking about. Thanks.

One (1) N-m = 0.7375 lb/ft of torque.
Good luck
