I am in the middle of an install on a 200 maxima. I heard these are Adjustable height when they are installed. It appears they can only be adusted off the car, becausde you cant turn them when they are bolted on. Please let me know if I am adjusting the wrong thing.

 

Once you have them bolted on, you can adjust them by turning the bracket using the special tool. Make sure you measure everything before and after the install.

 

What Razorfish said. If you have bolted them you can only change height while losing strut travel. If you don't want to lose strut travel, undo the bottom and adjust. It takes time, but it is so worth it to have full strut travel.

 

Well for tonight I have the fronts only done. I have to drive the car tomorrow for work and school and wont be able to put the rears on till tomorrow evening. Cars probably going to ride weird. Shouldnt mess anything up should it?

Tell me you have the same problem as I do. I put the setting to the softest setting and I think my car is bouncy and makes the swoosh noise. What setting do you have yours set to?

Oh yeah, when you turn the little screw, does yours go loose pass the clicking? I went past the clicking and now I'm scared I might have damaged it.

 

You will be fine about the adjustment screw as long as you can still click to adjust. If you adjustment screw is hard to turn, then you need to send them to JIC to get them fixed free of charge. ( had to do that once). I have had my JIC's for almost a year now. I have supplied many org members with my write up. Let me know if you would like to see it.

 

No you will not mess anything up with only the fronts other than an incredibly weird ride. I had mine like that for almost 1 month.

 

I left them soft for a few days and that would describe the ride, but I have them set to 12 all the way around.

 

It doesn't matter how you adjust your coilover it is the same difference. You can only adjust you lower bracket so much, and the FLT-A2 are designed so that you won't lose "strut" travel even at the lowest setting. You can slam you car and still have maximum travel. That is the beauty of the A2.

The way to adjust height on the the car, fully bolted, is to leave your lock collar tight below the spring perch, and loosen your collar above the lower bracket. Then use the supplied collar tool, and "screw" the entire threaded section down into the lower bracket, by "tightening" the spring perch. If you want to lower the car 1/2 inch, then you loosen the lowest collar to where you see 1/2" of threads between the lower bracket and lower collar. When you are done tighten every thing back up.

Now, the noise these make when going over bumps, is this normal? I hear a swoosh noise when going over bumps, happens whehter they are set to firm or soft. I have the ALT-A1's not the a2's. So only 5 settings. didnt seem to feel much different between 1 and 5 though, maybe its just me.

 

swoosh noise is normal....begin to like it after awhile.

 

with the a1's should it be noticeable switching from setting 1 to setting 5?

 

It's hard to tell if you are just driving around town. You've gotta really push the car to tell the suspension changes on the JIC shocks.

 

ive noticed a huge differance between 1 and 5, totally differant ride characteristics. the roads by me are rather rough and im still searching for the best combo for daily driving,
2 in front and 1 in the back is my fav so far. is it bad to adjust them all the time, maybe once a week or so? and does anyone have a rear strut bar, i want one, but not sure how hard itll be to adjust the shock. its hard enough now, but i want that extra bit of stiffness.

Just got both sides done. Looks amazing, Once i get the car cleaned all up and back from the body shop I will get pics. Going to body shop repairing hurricane damage. I have about a finger gap in the front and about flush with the fender in the rear, but I will be raising the rear slightly because it is rubbing slightly. Ride is great though, not too bad at all. Still dont really notice much difference between 1-5 setting though, I will have to keep playing wwith it.
