FYI - new hyperground setup for VQ35
For you 3.5 guys....looks like Nissan itself is now admitting that the factory grounds suck and are selling a ground kit....
http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan..._Code=GRND-A33
not sure why you'd pay $80 for something you can do yourself in 2 hours for $25 in materials, but this one does appear to be one of the nicer HG sets out there in terms of appearance and materials.....
just thought I'd give the heads-up.

They're not admitting the grounding sucks, they recognized it's something people are willing to buy, crunched some numbers, and figured it's going to be a profitable item.

<Nissan Engineer> : "Doh! what fools we've been not installing pretty, colored ground wires into all our nissans. Foolish us, it adds 15 horsepower, and everyone knows that grounding improvements can definatly be an excellent alternative to a loud exhaust system, a computer chip, or an intake that we've should've installed in the first place...."
<guy going to dealer> : "Yes, i'm here to ask about the ground wire re-call, apparantly you guys admit to a major problem here, and i'd like to deal with this pressing issue that you guys acknowledge"
<nissan service guy> : "HAHAHAHHA"
<guy going to dealer> : "doh!"

looking at this, its $30 more than the blehmco one, it obviously does the same thing, its just prettier than the blehmco one. in the interest of saving money and helping another ORG member, i would get matt's. ill just need to bug him about how to install it, haha.

just for all you guys who are doubters, I have installed the "home depot" grounding setup (with 6ga wiring) on 4 peoples' maximas now, and every one of them (including myself) can feel the difference in engine smoothness, pull, and a few other minor improvements. Does it add actual HP? no, probably not. Does it improve the engine's performance. Yes, without a doubt. By the way, the "theory" behind beefing up the VERY small factory grounds is, from an electrical engineering standpoint, solid.
seems to me that the people who HAVE done some kind of grounding are the ones who say that it works.
The people who keep saying it's "snake oil" or "just for looks" always seem to be the ones who haven't actually done it....
as for looks...well, those of us who have the home depot "hyperground" certainly didn't do it for looks......

JK... anyways... I saw how y'all set it up for him and I might try to do it sometime... I always say that....

Bad grounds cause all sorts of nasty troubles, so it makes sense to me that having good ground connections would be beneficial. I seem to recall certain VWs that had one ground strap for the entire electrical system, that tended to rust out and/or fall off...
Ah, the good old days![GrinNo](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/grin_no.gif)
I'll probably buy/install one of these eventually, if i get my new job, anyway.
It can't hurt, and it might help.

Are the grounding points that different on a 3.0 than a 3.5? (sorry, I'm uneducated and inexperienced in this aspect)
