Another Suspension Question

Well I researched 2 specific springs I've been wanting. Progress and Tein S-Techs... I had Sprints on my 4th gen and now I want something to drop that is just as even and almost as low... I'm ordering the Stillen Kit and just want to make sure I have enough clearance... I also drive around the Philly area a lot so I need something that won't kill my ride.. especially if I ride on 19's.... so first question is should I go with the Progress which isn't as low or should I get the Tein S-tech springs which are very low.. especially in the front ( from pictures I saw )... so what do you guys think I should get considering the circumstances I'm running on...

I also was looking at HOUSECOR's suspension site.. and was wondering why the rear on the progress is lower than the Tein S-Tech even though the progress springs only drop 1.5 and the Teins drop at 1.6...

I would go with the Progress. I've been deciding back and forth between the H-Tech and S-Tech and Progress and will probably decide on the H-Tech. S-Tech puts a lot of pressure on your struts, and although blowing out struts isn't a common problem, you want to do everything you can to avoid that.

Good question - housecor, why is the progress lower than the s-tech? =)

Yeah I'm leaning on Progress 75% compared to the Tein S-Tech 25%....

considering I live in Philly area!

I got the Progress springs... love em... like the ride quality (with HPs), its not overly harsh, but a lil bouncy over mid to large bumps... and its a good lookin drop... very even...

As for the rear drop comparison between the Progress and S-Techs, why would that be an issue? Just wondering....

I'm gonna be getting the Illuminas... I'm guessin' the Tein S-Tech have harsher rides than the Progress springs... I also read that HOUSECOR blew his strut because of the Progress... I probably end up getting Progress anyways just because Tein S-Tech is too low for me and i'll also be getting a body kit soon too...

Another question is should I also get bumpstops or use the stock ones.. how much do they usually worth for all four?

Thanx!

I'm using the stock bumpstops.... seems fine to me.... btw, I've got a thousand miles on my Progress springs and Tokico HPs (HPs had 10k miles put on by someone else before I got em) and no problems so far...

PM--

Did you trim your bumpstops??
I'm suspecting that my installer did NOT trim mine as I instructed.
After 10k, I'm getting tired of constant bottoming - and now I'm worried that I'm in danger of blowing a strut like Housecor, although HIS were trimmed.

I'm going to pull the struts this week to inspect.

ZERO --
I would NOT suggest going with lower springs (teins) driving in Philly.
I've driven there....it's worse than the ATL by far, and I'm going to need new kidneys soon with my progress/illuminas!
ref. above; I may have stock bumpers however - and this may be the cause.

The illuminas ROCK!

No, my bumpstops are not trimmed.... I've only bottomed out once and that's cuz I didn't see the damn bump in the road.... not sure why you're having that problem... maybe its the way you drive? Just kidding... do the settings on the Illuminas make a diff? I'm on HPs so its not adjustable.....

Once again, does the adjustability of the Illuminas help with that? I think that might. Anyways, ride quality, that's personal preference.... my advice to Zero is to ride in someone else's ride with that set-up (if possible) to see how it is... I'm sure you can find some local Org guys who'll help ya out there.... although I know from driving around the Chestnut Hill, Germantown Rd area of North Philly that certain roads out there are bad.....

Regarding the Tein/Progress measurement comparision, my Progress springs may have set lower than expected due to their age. I bought them with over 40k miles on them IIRC so my best guess is they may have sagged a bit.
