Torn between TOKICO HP and KYBGR2

Guys,

I am torn between HP BLUES and GR-2, for my 00max. I wanna put maxspeed springs, pretty much wanna keep the ride comfortable like stock. Which will be the best struts between these two with Maxspeed springs.

Thanks,
Jake.

From what I've heard on the forum.... they aren't too much different... the GR-2s might be slightly stiffer, but apart from that they're almost the same....

You got HP and maxspeeds, how is the ride is it comfortable , I just don't feel every bump on the road, my girlfriend's RSX, rides like ****, can feel every single little bump on the road. I dont wanna loose the comfortable ride.

You'll feel more bumps no matter what setup you install. Aftermarket struts will be stiffer for better handling and at the same time beable to stand lower spring drops. Don't expect that "floaty" stock ride from any combo, but maxspeeds are very close. You'll feel more bumps because you're riding on a stiffer strut with less travel. I personally chose the GR2s because I personally thought they were a little better than the blues. To me they're more geared towards performance..... or atleast that is the way KYB made it sound in an add. The stockers are Tokico and I just wanted a change. I say go with the strut that you can get at the best price and don't look back. H&R springs are soft, but hardly lower the car any. Best bang for the buck by far are the Maxspeeds.

Very nicely put... I just wanted to add that I got my HPs for $165 shipped with about 10K miles on em off the Classifieds forum... there were also some GR-2s for between $150-$200 shipped if I recall correctly (this was 2 months back)... anyways, what I'm trying to say is, there are good deals out there if ya look for em... I went with used because it was cheap, esp with the mileage.

The best riding strut out for the Maxima is the Tokico Illumina.
Blues are a little to soft for a lower setup.
GR2's are OK, a bit on the firm side.

Then you want Tokico HPs, KYBs are absolute ****ty ride quality. After what you said about your girlfriend's RSX, stay far, far away from KYB.

GR-2's ride nothing like an RSX. By comparison the GR-2's are pure comfort.

I got GR-2s and Eibach setup. Rides really good, a bit stiff on little bumps, but if u lower ur car on lowering springs, thats expected. Love my setup... ride is nice and comfy. Either way you go, you will be fine.. unless you get coilovers.. then get ready for some serious teeth grinding.

Another comment.... as you can see from the all the posts, there are varying opinions about ride quality, as would be expected since ride quality is HIGHLY personal and subjective... my advice to ya is to track down some local Org guys and check out their set-ups... have em drive ya around the block... something.... ya need to feel it for yourself or ya won't have a truly accurate sense for how YOU would like any one set-up.... or if you're more tolerant for harsh rides, like me, you can take a risk and just get whatever looks good and seems acceptable by most, and see how that works out...

I got my HP/Progress combo w/o trying it out first... but I love it.... its not harsh at all.... just a little bouncy over mid to large bumps... but hey, that's just what I think... some people will say its crappy....

All the best....
