Need Serious Help!!!!

I let my brother drive my car which is a five speed. it took it out and came back and it had a rattling sound coming from it. he told me that he was racing and messed up a shift and over reved it, went from 3rd to 2nd way too fast, wondering how much crap might be messed up

Oil might be low, rattling noise is from the oil being low, I had this problem on my car, the oil was 2 quarts low. Get it checked out, fill it up with the missing oil, noise should be gone.

If he mis-shifted you might have some bent valves. That is just a worse case senario, but take it to your mechanic or the stealership.

You mean the Check Engine light I hope??!! You are scareing me with your term "check oil" light came on!! If the rectangular, RED low oil pressure light is the one you are talking about and it stays on after you start the engine IMMEDIATELY STOP the engine!! The "oil" light when on indicates that you have basically zero oil pressure.

Red light on dash=bad news. Orange light=warning. if the oil light is on or any other red light (airbag, battery, ABS, more...?) u got issues.

got it narrowed down to a tensioner pulley that is making the noise, still no explination for the oil light. did an oil change and i had plenty in it, and looked ok. will see tomorrow at the dealership

damn....If I let someone borrow my car and they told me they had been racing it.....an a s s-beating would be in order - especially if they screwed something up on the car. Take it to a shop, have them fix whatever is wrong, and make your brother pay for it.

I'm guessing the oil pump has failed. The noise you MIGHT be hearing is the oil pump- which is in the area of the belt tensioner pulley- but a little bit lower. VQs dont like being over-reved, if that happens alot of times the oil pump goes.

it's only happened once, is that enough to cause that. also today i was driving, and my car just died, i was getting off the highway and pressed in the clutch to downshift and it just died, wouldn't do anything, could it be my alternator?
