changing coils on 2000 SE

FYI:

After getting a quote for $850 for changing coils. I changed them myself for $309, it took me, a non-mechanic, about 80 minutes to complete it! I'm sure glad I found this forum.

Don't be afraid to try this at home

twllin - where did you pick up the coils? Did you go ahead and replace plugs at the sametime?

I sell them here on the org for 265 shipped which is a lot cheaper then anywhere else. Its best to change the plugs right away since you have the coils off migh as well do it then.

Are the coils supposed to be changed as a preventative maintenance measure or just when they go bad?

Some people do change the coils as a preventative measure on the 00's, because they are known to fail at some point. But usually people will wait until at least one of them goes and then change all six, because the others will probably not be far behind.
