Hey - my auto 00 SE max has 65K on it....1 day recently exhaust began sounding very iroc z'ish so brought it to the dealer...dealer said there was a hole in the flange (I guess that parts not stainless steel)...dealer wanted $560 for new muffler...I brought to a local garage and they confirmed hole and replaced it for $230. I just got home and car sounds just as loud....the noise sounds like it's right below my seat...It's a little loud at idle but much more so when I accelerate especially getting up to like 40MPH....

Anyone have any idea what else this could be??

Well when the local garage jacked up your max and it was running idle, didnt you inspect the system with the mechanic from the engine to the muffler? Go back and have them re-check the exh.system.

FYI- I had badly rusted and worn connecting flanges of the stock cata-converter and muffler. Went to mr.muffler. They cut off and welded 2 new flanges. 120cdn(100U$)

 

The same thing happened to me on my last car when the stock cat rusted out.
