Blown MAF

when it goes what part is "blown"? does a metal piece inside break? Has anyone taken it apart?

The actual sensor in it! The maf is really easy to change. Litterally 5 seconds. It's only 2 screws.

It will leave a hole in your hood when it blows.

Its the electronic component that fails, its not visible to the naked eye, its like looking at a computer chip, can't tell if it works or not just by looking.

Also you can't change it in 5 secs Hakimis unless you are really fast it takes me over 15 secs. lol

Aren't you cute! You know what I meant; it's very easy to change. I'm a girl and I did it with no problem.

Shouldn't you reset your ECU if you install a new MAF or that's not necessary?

Yeah, before you do it take off the negative terminal, change it (the MAF) and wait about a minute and then replace it.

Good b/c it wouldn't do any good for a 2k2. Only works on 2k's and 2k1's.

On the altima forums I read that 2002-2003 are plagued with bad MAFs. Nissan seems to have fixed the problem for 2004 and 2005. Someone actually installed a 2004 MAF on a 2002 and he says all the difference is a rough/low idle. Anyone try this? I have to buy a MAF but I don't want to get a '02-'03 POS (I have to run it on 2002 ECU).
