replacement 2000 maxima keys

Both of my car keys (plastic ring part) are broken. Are there any other options besides paying $90 at the dealer for new keys? Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

ebay has them for cheaper... i got mine for around $20 a pop. The programming is what kills... so buy all the keys now and get them programmed at the same time. Its rediculous that they charge $45 for every half hour of labor... minimum. Takes 1/2 hour to program.

I used to intern at a Mitsubishi dealer. We charged $40 for the cut key, and an hour of labor at $85 to program it, for a total of $125 plus tax. I had a friend with a galant who paid the full $40 bucks for the key, but I brought his car back to one of the techs I knew. It took them 30 seconds to program both of his keys to the car. They plug a unit into the obd2 harness under the dash, turn one key, push a button on their unit, turn another key, and they are done. At most this would take 10 minutes if they had to look up the buttons to push for your specific car in their book...and if the tech was extremely slow. I would go in and start bit**ing, claim you have a friend who is a tech and you know it takes 5 minutes, see what they say.
