Help!!! Tranny Gurus!

Hey all,

Got a big problem. This morning it took a little rocking to get my auto 2k out of the snow. I got her out no problem after a little spinning of tires and cursing the snow plow guys. Anyhow, i get onto the highway going to work and i'm doing about 75 and i look down and i'm taching like 4900rpm. I'm like WTF? So i think oh i musta hit the OD button while getting it out. Nope. Not on. I push it anyhow.. no change (Light does illuminate on dash). So i get off highway and go into big parking lot. I move the shifter down to 1.. still sluggish.. i move it to 2.. same thing.. move it to D.. same thing. It's almost like the tranny won't shift out of second gear?!? Could the cold/snow do this or did i manage to hambone my tranny while getting it out of the snow?

i saw something similar last week...but mine wasnt as high as that..I was going 3200 while going only 65mph. But after 10-15 mins of driving it automatically came down to 2500..I guess it needed to warm up

Thats the odd part. I have about a 35 minute drive to work. It didn't stop the whole way there including a lot of stop/go type driving mixed with highway driving. The kick in the pants is, this tranny is only about 10 months old. I had the whole tranny replaced under warranty by nissan last year.

i think you have at least a 1 yr warranty on that tranny then... just bring it back and DO NOT tell them you rocked it out of snow, you just started driving and it was like this.... if they ask you if you did that... deny, deny, deny!!

Yeah they told me 12month/12k mile on it. I just can't believe that a brand new transmission with 8k miles on is doing this. What kind of rejects do the dealerships hire anyhow?

Turn Off The Max And Let The Trans Reset Itself And You Should Be Fine, It Usually Will Not Let You Get Past 2nd Gear If The Car/trans Has Done A Certain Time Amount Of Slipping! This Happened To Me On The Highway While Driving In A Snowstorm. At Least 4 Inches On Snow On The Actual Highway, Was Slipping Like Crazy And Car Did Not Get Past 2nd Gear. When I Made It Home I Shut It Off And Turn The Car Back On And It Was Totally Fine- It's Like The Max Goes Into Limp Mode If It Does Too Much Slipping! Good Luck

Take the car back to wherever it was serviced and have them fix it.

Just curious man, why the hell did you put a capital letter on each word of that entire thing. Thats one of the oddest things I have seen someone do. I can just imagine seeing you typing that

I had the same problem - WEIRD RIGHT

Well I started to warm up the car after the snow storm and starting slipping and sliding trying to get the car out of the parking spot and next thing u know I was driving and got on the high way and noticed that my tranny was not shifting out of 2nd gear, i was driving like 45 and my rpm was liek at 4K I got so scared , i thought that my tranny had went ( but I only have 70K on car so I was like it cant be..... anyway i drove all the way to work like for like 27 miles and then when i go into the parking lot at work , I shut off the car and started it again and started driving and the tranny was FINE. WEIRD I guess it just had to reset itself after the slipping and sliding. Thank g-d for that. Until I didnt go into maxima . org I would not have never known that it just had to be reset and thats that. Thanks guys .....
