hesitation on acceleration?

Does anybody else's 02 Maxima hesitate at times when trying to accelerate?
Once in a while my car will hesitate when I step on it. Not sure why, it seems to run smoothly otherwise.

How many miles does she have?

Could be MAF, VIAS, Throttle Body, Plugs, Air Filter, Fuel Filter, Coils

There are a ton of threads on this issue, you should scroll through them as well as the stickies before you post. But the problem you are having is probably related to NTB03-022 for 6spd cars or NTB03-023 for auto equipped cars.

You can read a good thread here:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....hreadid=198305

And you can print an adobe version of it from here:
http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/tsb...=2002&tsb=none

Keep in mind if you are over your 36K this will NOT be covered under warranty unless you have some kind of extended warranty that will. Most of the '02 cars as you will read need the MAF replaced and it isn't cheap. I was just barely able to get it covered on my '03 due to mileage.

Good luck and let us know how you make out.

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=372106 The consensus from this thread seems to be a bad MAF.

Get the TSB done for the hesitation first before you start screwing around with the MAF. Even if you are not under warranty, they'll probably only charge you $80 or so for the ECU reflash, or less if you take your service writer for lunch.
