I talked to my Nissan dealership today while getting some touch up paint (seven chips in just the three weeks I have owned it!)

Anyway, I conferred my disappointment felt my Maxima dealers considering the release of the new Altima. They said in just two weeks, Headquarters has received over 1,000 calls from Maxima owners who are unhappy....No changes scheduled though. They did have info on the New Altima and on the 6th Gen Max.

New Altima will have 240hp (which we knew) and will top out fully loaded at $24K MSRP which means you could pick one up for about $22K.

The 6th Generation Maxima will be completely redesigned and come out in the fall of 2005. It will have between 270 - 300 horsepower based on the current specs. They have major plans to make sure that it stays the flagship for Maxima and retains it power, the main reason it sells so good.

Just thought I would pass that along!

 

300hp on Maxima? I don't think so!

 

I thought the same thing but then again, I didn't think they would take a 150hp Altima and make it 240 either. They specifically stated 270 - 300 hp. I just know that my goal is to have my new Max paid off by the time the new ones come out. I could handle the 270 for sure, much less the 300. The new Acura has 266 so I won't be surprised by a 300 from Maxima at all. They will have to do something grand to keep Maxima's price as high as it is and retain the ownership it has.

Hell this sucks, only 24k for hid's leather and 240hp?!?
Damnit damnit damnit. you know what this means though. its gonna turn into a ricers car cuz it gonna be relativly cheap...

i spoke to the dealer and he said that the 240 hp v6 is an option in the altima....the rest stick with v4 of 180hp
as for the max, the info seems to be the same but i think it'll come out in 2004 not 2005.

As long as there is a manual tranny option...that will be just fine.
