60K Mile service: Do it myself or let dealers rip me off?
I have a list of everything that is supposed to be performed at a 60K tune-up by dealers and i was wondering if it is worth paying the money they ask for it or should i just do everytihng myself and save a little? thanks.
service work can be done by any body--the maxima doesnt really need any thing but the normal oil change--change the air filter,microfilter(a/c), trans flush(a/t), tire rotation& brake inspection & balance all four tires. the only real thingto inspect is brakes and belts--not to many things go wrong with these vehicles. I work at a dealer and just think its crazy what people do(service wise) like bringing in a 350z for a 15,000 mile service you cant rotate the tires its just an overglorified oil change. the only problem I have is that people tend to over fill the engine with oil(4.0 qts 3.0L and 4.2qts 3.5L)
BensMax00 is right, no need to let the dealer do all the minor stuff, it's cake to do it yourself. However leave alignment and balancing issues to the dealer. I only bring mine to the dealer in the winter months since I dont feel like freezing my ***** off in the snow under the car changing the oil.
