Question About Strange Sunroof Problem

Newbie here. We bought my wife an '02 Maxima back in December. Although technically it's our thrid Maxima because we previously owned a '97 I30 and an "01 I30. Anyway when we push the swithch all the way back to open the sunroof completely it first pops up to the vent position, then opens normally. Same thing when we close it, it closes, then pops up in the vent position, then closes again. The two previous I30's didn't do that and our 2000 Altima doesn't do it. Is this normal? If not what is the problem? Thanks for any help that can be provided.

And if it ever misbehaves... I think you can reset it by holding on the tilt button (either up or down, I forget) for several seconds.. and it should work fine after that. Mine was all funky yesterday and I believe I held the tilt down button for a bit and its fine now...
