Won't be doing it personally, but that's siiiiick. It's just such a shame that you can't see the hairdryer from the engine bay though

Not to put a damper on everyone's parade, but I can almost guarantee this will take years for these guys to get this thing dialed in!!! I really hope it works out for him but that is tricky **** man I spent like ten grand in the early ninety's trying to convert a gsr integra. Man what a headache!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK, like I said I hope it works for ya!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still do not get it.. Is this kit for a 5 or 5.5 gen maximas? And WTF is wrong with the kits that people in Supercharded/Turbocharded forums have?

Stillen

Personally I'd go with the Stillen Supercharger kit. It has been proven to be a great product. (They didn't even pay me to say that)

But Stillen kit won't make as much horsepower than a turbo kit can make...

Stillen SCs eat their belts quite alot, how many threads have I seen in years bout a belt being shreaded etc. Stillen SC is a good product but it doesn't have the midrange punch of the turbo kit, nor will it ever make the TQ that a good turbo kit will.

Car should run 11s without a doubt, with traction at around 125-130MPH.

Roy is that a GT35R in the picture ?

As for tuning a 10K dollar Turbo project GS-R in the early 90s.... well in the early 90s there where no good biggy back ECUs and there where no good stand alones. Everything was JUST starting to develop for imports- I remember RS Akimoto intake DC headers and Greddy exhaust was DA shizznit on Hondas, now you can buy everything cheap on Ebay, its all copied cheap **** that some manufacturer came up with years ago and all the low lifes are trying to copy. These days you can turbocharge ANYTHING, in the early 90s not many good turboed cars existed. If you look at the industry, a 350HP Talon 10 years ago was something to be proud of, forward to 2005 and a 350HP Talon is not all that, especially when you have 500-600HP ones rolling around doing 9s and 10s in the 1/4 mile with stock unibodies.

Industry has changed, technology has improved, the whole scene got divided into the ricers who are just into intakes, exhausts and body kits, to people who make SICK cars, it don't matter if its a 400HP Hyundai Excel or a 1000WHP Supra- still a sick car that deserves more props than a 20" bladed ugly *** body kited Maxima.

Existing turbo kits that are out for 5th gens are POS kits, every single one of them has something wrong in its design- I dont like how the upper radiator hose touches the downpipe, no turbo kit out there designed specifically for the 5th or 5.5 Gen. Most of these kits are home brewed kits that sacrifice alot of quality for power. Unlike the SC from Stillen, which can be installed in a few hours, these turbo kits require ALOT of customizing to make it fit.

I hope you guys don't think this is a " projector lights " install....Like was just said, this will require some serious time to install. Roy has the benefit of having an awesome mechanic, as a friend, therefore, he will get any help he needs. This is not for everyone. I would dare to say it's not for 95% of you.

just a question...but how much does forced induction hurt the durability of our engines? like will it run harder and die sooner?

I should be able to beat a C6 Vette... (maybe not the Z06 though )

Took one off the line, before I dropped the car off in Dec, Had him through 3rd gear... of course, once he hit 3rd, he blew past me... Gave me the thumbs up at the next light though...

Try contacting Tim at SFR and talk to him about it... I'm sure other auto guys would like to know also...

Next time I talk to him, I'll see what he thinks...

Yeah... but then again, the turbo won't be adding to the under-hood temperature like they do mounted up high...

Tim tells me that the flow of air underneath the car, as well as the radiator fans, will keep the temps down also...

Why do you think so? Remember, these guys have already dialed in the turbo kit on a VQ35 Alty... On top of that, they've also done a bunch of custom turbo kits on G35's and 350Z's... I was at the shop one day when they were working on this guys twin turbo G35 that they built for him... freakin' sick! This dude has bucks, too... he's got 2 G35's, one with the custom twin-turbo SFR setup and the other with Steallin's stage 3 supercharger... the TT blows the SC's doors off...

The kit should work for 5 and 5.5 gens... just like I posted in the title of the thread...

There's nothing wrong with the SC kit for the 2000-2001 5th gens, but there is no other off the shelf FI kit for 5.5 gens - the Steallin SC doesn't work on the VQ35 engine...

SSR/SFR has also mentioned, in other threads, that they will be able to make custom mounting plates for superchargers also, in case someone wants to SC instead of TC...

It'll be a hell of a headache if you have to rebuild your engine cuz you burned your valves or melted your piston...

BTW - I have a full NX Nitrous Kit I'll be selling, if you're interested...

We'll be blowing to atmosphere.... no recirculating here... I told Tim to put the MAF on the charge pipe so we could vent to atmosphere... just hope the MAF holds up

Yeah, well, it's not all roses...

I've been without my car for almost 2 months... and it's still not cheap, even though I'm getting a pretty good deal...

I dropped the car off b4 I went on Xmas vacation, so not much happened over the holidays... then SFR was working on a couple cars for JGTC, so the Max wasn't their first priority... but it's all good, I'd rather wait longer for the quality, then rush it for a sh!tty job...

I had already bought a piggyback ECU and injectors, so the price of those items came out of the final cost of the kit... saved me about $800 there...
