i have 2002 maxima automatic and the tranny just broke i want to change it into six speed can anyone help will to spend about 1,000 dollars let me now and if anyone has the parts let me now send me email at felyadacat@aol.com

 

you want to swap an auto for a manual and only spend $1000???? do you have the 6 speed already or something?

 

no i dont have the parts want to now how much would it cost am located in brooklyn ny

 

if you are serious about this, contact daveb the parts guy (check the FAQS) to find out everything you need, every part. its not gonna just be a trans swap. then call local shops to find out what they will charge.

this place is in NJ and says $450 for most cars. so add $500 to whatever dave tells you for all the parts, and your lookin at a pretty heft conversion.

$1000 to install a functional 6 speed in a car that was built with an auto? LOL, not a chance in hell. If your car had a 6 speed stock it would cost $1000 or more to get a rebuilt/junked 6 speed in there. Unfortunately the conversion will add _considerable_ labour to that, so for $1000 it's simply not possible unless you can do the work yourself, which I suspect you can't (hey, it's pretty hard - I'd have no idea where to start) since you're asking

 

not worth it..just sell your car and buy a stick

 

yeah man theres a lot more work then you think there is to do a swap. things you don't even think of right off the bat but anyway $1000 won't even get you a tranny

 

PLenty of 6 speeds for sale in the for sale section....

 

all said and done.....prob about $4k, parts and labor included
