Stolen HIDs

This is just a question for those 2000 and 2001 Maxima that installed 02/03 HIDs on their car. Did any of you guys have your HIDs stolen. I know that some of the 02/03 guys had them stolen like 5 times, but.

Remember... they are after the ballast and the bulbd, they don't care about the housing.....you can add whatever HID's you want to your car......

what difference is there if HIDs are being stolen from 5.5 gen or 5 gen? If you are in a wrong place at the wrong time, you'll get them stolen. Not as common now compared to while back.

But the question states:

2000 and 2001 Maxima that installed 02/03 HIDs on their car. Did any of you guys have your HIDs stolen

It's a question to those with the 2000-2001 5th gens. If those who have put 2k2-2k3 headlights on their cars, have had them stolen. RESPECT.

Bingo. Do you honestly think that a theif is going to tell the difference between a 5th and 5.5 gen Max with HIDs? No, all they are going to recognize is the headlight, and *boom*...another one bites the dust.

For the 5.5 gen, the insurance is gonna replace it. So, how about the 5 gen? Its not standard equipment.

if you get them call your insurance company so they can rip you off more and more......I'm getting mines one day, hopefully next week, and build a bracket to protect the BALLAST, that's what the thief really wants

Actually guys, what he means is if the people with 2k-2k1 HID conversion has had their HID stolen since there is a BIG difference with 5th and 5.5 gen. First of all, the taillights. Even though it is funny but thieves are not that stupid, they want to focus on the car according to how they look. Many of us park face in, so the 5th gen with SE taillights maybe can get away from drawing attention in a parking lot rather then a 5.5 gen with altezza tails. Despite the fact that you might not draw too much attention but you're still taking 50 50 risk by putting HIDS on the 5th gen. That is why I decided not to get the HIDS, I want to be able to watch a movie with my girl at the theator or go to the mall PEACEFULLY rather then constantly being worried about "would my lights still be there when I get back".

dude....people steal HIDs cause they want the HIDs not to steal something from a 5.5 gen they dont care what they are on...a "stupid" thief would say "i wont steal these HIDs cause it has diffirent tailights which means its only an 2000"

Just as a side note. I informed my insurance (USAA) that I had installed the 02-03 HIDs and asked if I could pay extra to have them covered. USAA told me that there was no need - that they (and any other mods) were covered under my comprehensive...kind of like other things in my car like a backpack or CD case or Oakley sunglasses, etc....

Thats why I said "when your car is parked face in"... atleast in NY that is. Many 5.5 gen owners has switched to SE taillights due to the HID factor as well as it looks better then Altezzas. But mainly because when parked faced in, 5th gen maxs can get away.

i agree and have proof. i have a 2k and i have hids installed and live and work inside atlantic city nj. i park in a 9 story parking garage(thousands of vehicles coming and going everyday from everywhere) 6 days a week where i am friends with many of the parking attendants who watch the cameras due to the fact that i bartend and when they come to my bar i take GOOD care of them for paying so much attention to my car. i always park front first and originally had the stock gle red tails and never had a problem. i converted to the 02 stock altezzias and almost had the car hit twice before i put the reds back on. Both times they had to come out of the booth and up the elevator to question suspects who were gazing at the front of my car. anyone that thinks the taillights don't play a part are fools. I've had it proven, especially with the red tails, they must just think it's the gxe sh** old one and pass it by. They definately know the difference. since i've had reds back on, no more stange people getting out of there car and grilling my headlights. it's a shame really,i think the altezzas looked great against the pearl white but oh well.

its funny, no one seems to answer his question.

Trance Artur, I dont think anyone has posted about thier 2k2 2k3 headlight conversion being stolen, or at least from what I remember. But I do remember someone saying that after they put on some AE headlights in the 2k2 2k3 after thier hids were stolen, thier AE headlights were also stolen.

I think by changing the taillights atleast would take off 25% attention from a thief.

Sorry, don't have them...nothing stolen. 6th gen has them, but still safe there. And, I think they want the entire housing. Still safe.
