quick question. your profile says you have an 02 maxima. if that is the case then it is cali spec. all 2k1 and up maximas are cali spec. that doesnt mean there werent cali spec in 99, 00, etc but 2k1 was the first year all of them were.

I have a 02 also, the 2000 is the wifes car. Just tryin to figure out if it is the bank 1 02 sensor or the one after the cat. Just tryin to get a consitent response so I don't have to spend more than I have to since we are getting rid of the 2000 soon. Thanks

from what ive heard, the ecu flash from nissan described in the tsb is the only known fix for the problem. i know the o2 simulator can mask the issue (gets rid of the cel) but it wont erase it. i would contact a dealer about the tsb even though the 00 is a fed spec. the emissions parts outlined in the tsb are covered 8yr/80k miles.

AGAIN, finally the guessing game ends...post all relevant info, since we're NOT mindreaders.
Fed specs are the black sheep, ASSuming you don't have a ypipe(wifey's car), you either have an exhaust leak or a catalytic convertor is bad. If it's a cat, you can try to get it fixed under the emissions warranty(check state law in Owners' manual), replace the cat/ypipe, or buy an 02 simulator.
