odor of burning after hard accelaration

yesterday I floored the throttle coming out of a red light, goind into high revs on 2nd gear (around 6000) and then high again on 3rd gear (5000) before shifting in 5th to cruise.

for a couple of minutes, it smelled like burning (subtle, but it was there), and it wasnt outside the car (I thought maybe another car that would have passed there a couple of minutes ago could be the source of the smell).

after 2-3 minutes, the smell faded away.
I was looking at my dash but fortunately no SES light came on.

Im a little worried, but not enough to avoid flooring it again next time

anybody has any idea about such a smelle in that kind of situation?

Cubanato had the same problem....did you have your tranny flushed? You really need to before you do any damage to it. He took the car to the dealership and they found little trans fluid in the tranny.

yeah.... at first i thought it was my cat burnign since i have headers.....but trans slipping and a trip to the dealer made me realize i had basically no trans fluid left.....and whatever i did have left was clear not red like it is supposed to be and the burn smell was my tranny

i would assume shifting hard = burning clutch smell. It should be natural if your driving the car really hard
