Please do.

The more kills we have listed on here, the better we can all feel about our cars!

According to....

http://www.vw.com/jetta/engspec.htm

A 2001 (should be same mechanically as 98 if I remember correctly) Jetta VR6/auto will do 0-60 in 8.7s. I think that might be a little conservative though, and he does have a CAI and exhaust so that will help him a little bit so he's probably in the low 8's at best to 60mph. I know 5th Gen Max/auto's can do at least that and probably in the high-7's, just like the Accord V6 so I say that you should be able to beat him even with his mods.

Is there something going on with the Max auto tranny where it shifts well short of redline and steals performance away? I thought I read that somewhere - haven't been through all of the threads yet! If that's the case you can still beat him but you might have to shift up through the gears manually on your auto.

Please forgive my "newbieness"

Doesn't Make a Bit of Difference!!!

Having the O/D engaged or disengaged doesn't make a bit of difference in acceleration performance from a dead stop. Anybody that tells you differently is simply hallucinating!
Just brake/torque the car to about 1500 rpm and put the pedal to the metal. It's true though about the max shifting at around 6k (kind of bites) however my car now shifts at 6500-6600 rpms since I've added the SCer and done the VB upgrade. (Can't explain why other than the fact that it revs up very quickly during boost)
