thinking about switching from 00 to an 02 max

My 2000 max has 102,000 miles on it....after you mod stuff and mess around you start to have little annoying problems. The car is starting to show it's age... i replaced the MAF and it feels like its slowly going back to the way it was beore i replaced the MAF.....i want something that isnt gonna require me to do a lot of work to it..i looked at every other sedan out there...theres not 1 that has more of a value/performance ratio than a maxima. the ones i were considering were lexus is300, mitsubishi evo, subaru wrx, acura tl. they were all too expensive, and the lexus was slower much slower. I was looking at 02 SE 6 speeds. Is that a good car to get with around 30,000-40,000 miles on it? require much maintence? Thanks

They are great cars. I bought my '02 6spd used and haven't had a problem (knock on wood). Consumer Reports rated the '02 as one of their best used cars to buy. You can also find them for under 14,000.

If you have been happy with the car thus far, moving on to a lower mileage 5.5 Gen as a replacement car wouldn't be a bad move. Personally, after driving a car for 102,000 miles, I would want something completely different.

I have 103K on my Max and have been driving it for almost a month now cause of my bad axle. I just got my tranny and axle repleaced under warranty few days ago, and going from my mint 91 Legend to my Max is just one of those "uuu ahhh" experiences I love the Max, and if mine where to get destroyed or something I would most likely buy another one ! I have had owned a few 91-93 Sentra SE-Rs and one of them I put 200+K miles on it. Offer me another *B13* SE-R in mint shape and I will buy it in a heart beat. I like to stick with what I got, and know, and not go buy something completly diff like a EVO that I would destroy in a few months. I'm really hard on cars, and Mitsu or Suby wouldn't last me too long. Honda, Nissan, Toyota make long lasting durrable cars that will take a whoppn for a prolonged period of time.

yea well i also drive my car hard..i never powershift but sometimes i will shift thru 3rd close to the redline. i never have dropped the clutch over 4000 RPM's and i rarely do that. I have a lead foot and i usually take off fast and because of that the wheels spin a lot.. i just wanted to know how 02's take a beating tell me how you drive your 02 what probs u have and how many miles are on it. Thanks (BTW i am planning on getting this car after this summer when i have more miney saved up...for how much u think could i find an 02 se 6 speed leather and sunroof? Thanks

Although it would be a little more money I would cross shop with a '03 Acura CL-S 6-spd. if I could find one.

The WRX will not be as reliable as the max.

I would go for the 02 max.

just go to autotrader or any other site, even the forum in the classified section and look for them to see how much they go for.

That's a good alternative to a 5.5G 6MT, so long as you dont mind a coupe. But, they can be harder to locate than the 5.5G 6MT; not to mention, they'll probably retail for more as well.
